Job Description:
- Position: IT Intern (Fixed-Term Contract)
- Location: Westville Campus, Durban, South Africa
- Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 17:00
- Salary: Market-related
Duties and Responsibilities
Lecture Room Support:
- Provide first-line support for computer and lecture venues.
- Maintain operational state and neatness of computer and lecture venues.
- Perform daily checks on copiers, printers, motorized screens, and projectors.
- Ensure operational state of wireless infrastructure.
Hardware Support:
- Assist users with desktop and laptop issues.
- Provide support for photocopiers and printers.
- Install desktops, laptops, printers, and peripheral components.
- Set up projectors for classrooms.
Software Support:
- Install and update relevant software.
- Assist users with software issues, including Microsoft Office.
- Administer software licensing.
End User Training:
- Instruct users in the use of hardware and software.
- Respond to queries related to hardware, software, and system operation.
- Manage Active Directory account and mailbox creation.
Maintenance of HIPS:
- Diagnose problems with HIPS and campus connectivity.
- Administer Telephone Management System (TMS) and Broadsoft (EWS).
Administration and Documentation:
- Log IT-related queries with the Service Desk.
- Assist with administrative tasks.
- Update the hardware or software asset register, including asset disposal and transfer.
- Prepare and analyze photocopier and telephone reports.
General:
- Maintain neatness of the Server Room, ICT Office, and ICT Storeroom.
- Manage and maintain ICT equipment sign-out/sign-in processes.
Assessment Support:
- Administer and support IT-related tests and exams.
- Manage Student AD Exam account administration, KIX script, and preloads.
Development:
- Shadow Senior ICT and ICT Support staff for professional development.
- Troubleshoot server issues.

- Higher Certificate / Occupational Certificate Level 5 (NQF Level 5) / A+ / N+
