Job Description
The General Assistant role at Cashbuild is integral to the daily operations of the store. As a General Assistant, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive customer service, ensuring that the store is well-maintained, and supporting customers with their purchases. Your duties will include loading and merchandising stock, maintaining shelf price labels, and ensuring the cleanliness and safety of your designated area.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Service
- Greet and assist customers, identifying their needs and providing product advice.
- Handle customer queries and complaints promptly and professionally.
- Promote additional sales by suggesting related products.
- Ensure efficient service by loading customer purchases without delays or damage.
- Inform customers about additional services such as delivery, glass cutting, and credit programs.
- Maintain a high level of product knowledge to assist customers effectively.
- Housekeeping
- Keep your designated area free of obstacles and well-merchandised.
- Ensure accurate shelf price labeling.
- Complete required checklists for canteen and toilet/shower areas.
- Safety (OHSA) Compliance
- Adhere to safety protocols and ensure the safety of customers and colleagues.
- Report any safety hazards to the Store Manager.
- Ensure stock is merchandised safely to prevent injuries.
- Ready for Business
- Follow the Ready for Business and Beyond my Control procedures as per Cashbuild standards.
- Loss Prevention and Security
- Identify and report any gaps in displays or suspicious activities.
- Ensure no products are loaded for customers without proof of purchase.
Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 or a minimum of one year of work-related experience.
- Skills:
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and the dominant language of the area.
- Basic mathematical skills for accurate calculations.
- Capability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
- Availability: Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
