The Western Cape Department of Education (WCED) is inviting South African unemployed graduates to apply for its Graduate Internships Programme for 2024/2025. This 24-month programme is an excellent opportunity to gain practical work experience while preparing for future career opportunities.

Internship Details

  • Position: GraduatAe Intern
  • Stipend: R7,450.75 per month
  • Duration: 24 months (2025 – 2027)
  • Location: Western Cape, South Africa
  • Branch/Directorate: Directorate: Strategic People Management

Key Requirements

To qualify for this internshipsA, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a South African citizen, aged 34 years or younger.
  • Hold a 3-year Diploma or Degree (NQF 6 or 7) in one of the following fields:
    • Financial Management, Accounting, Internal Audit, Taxation
    • Human Resource Management/Development, Industrial Psychology
    • Public Management/Administration, Communication
    • Psychology/Social Work
    • Archives/Records Management, Information Technology
  • Women and persons with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.

Available Opportunities

Positions are available in the following directorates and districts:

  • Head Office: Employee Relations, Recruitment, Financial Accounting, Examinations, Internal Control, and more.
  • Rural Districts: Cape Winelands, Eden & Central Karoo, Overberg, West Coast.
  • Metro Districts: Metro East, Metro North, Metro South, Metro Central.

Responsibilities

Interns will be responsible for:

  • Assisting staff with general office duties, including:
    • Research
    • Data entry
    • Filing
    • Coordination
  • Providing administrative support to the designated office.

Knowledge and Skills

Applicants should demonstrate:

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and email systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including effective written and verbal communication in at least two official languages of the Western Cape.
  • Ability to gather and process information efficiently.
