Job Description
The Cashier position is a critical role within the Trade Division at TWK Agri's Empangeni branch. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient and accurate transactions and maintaining a high standard of customer service.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Bag, box, and wrap merchandise for customer purchases and prepare packages for shipment.
- Compute and accurately record all transactions in the system.
- Manage cash drawers, ensuring that amounts are correct and that there is sufficient change at the start of each shift.
- Sort, count, and wrap notes and coins to maintain cash flow accuracy.
- Establish or identify prices of goods and tabulate bills using calculators, cash registers, or optical scanners.
- Greet and assist customers entering the establishment, providing them with prompt and friendly service.
- Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers in a timely manner.
- Maintain a clean and orderly checkout area, ensuring it is presentable at all times.
- Stock shelves, mark prices on shelves and items, and participate in regular stock takes.
- Perform any other ad hoc duties as requested by the manager.
Qualifications and Skills
- Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
- Computer literate with basic knowledge of retail systems.
- Previous cashier experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Strong numerical skills and the ability to handle money accurately.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced retail environment.
