The university of Fort Hare is based Eastern Cape .The university students decided to burn the places where exams are being hosted because they did not want to write the exams.The students mentioned that there are a lot of issues that they are not happy about .They mentioned issues such as allowances which emanate from maladministration of NSFAS, slow disbursement of living allowances, and an issue of timetable that was brought to our attention.

The SRC said that they tried to speak with the office of the Registration  to amend the timetable and to postpone but to their surprise still the timetable appeared to still have flaws.That is what led to the students getting furious and organising the ambush .

Some of the students who were seen burning the property were arrested .They appeared in Alice Magistrate’s court in the 06/06/2023. Their bail hearing are set to commence on the 18/06/2023.
