Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this learnership, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12/TVET College Level 2, or Grade 10 with one year of experience in HIV programs
- Be between the ages of 18-35 years
- Ability to communicate in English, IsiXhosa, and other South African languages
- A driver’s license (advantageous)
- HIV Counselling certification (advantageous)
Duties and Responsibilities
As a Learners Support Agent, your responsibilities will include:
- Creating community awareness on issues affecting AGYW.
- Mobilizing support for PrEP and PP_PREV programs.
- Educating AGYW and their peers on HIV, human rights, gender inequality, and gender-based violence.
- Conducting pre-screening to identify vulnerable AGYW and ensuring their participation in structural programs.
- Implementing case management strategies as per standard procedures.
- Hosting face-to-face youth care clubs based on AGYW’s needs.
- Referring AGYW to external agencies as necessary.
- Supporting assessments of youth needs related to HIV prevention, linkage to care, and treatment adherence.
- Participating in interdisciplinary team and case review meetings.
- Recruiting AGYW for youth care clubs.
- Submitting monthly reports to the clinical trainer.
