Position: Learner Charge Hand Diamond Drilling
Selected candidates will take on the role of Learner Charge Hand Diamond Drilling and will report directly to the Engineering Foreman. This learnership offers a hands-on experience, combining both practical work and theoretical training at the M&RC Training Academy.
Job Description
The successful candidates will be tasked with:
- Team Management: Effectively managing a team of general workers and safely performing the duties of a Learner Charge Hand Diamond Drill.
- Competency Development: Achieving competency at the entry-level role through practical work and theoretical training.
- Equipment Operation: Safely operating diamond drilling equipment under supervision.
- Safety Protocols: Following lockout procedures and complying with M&RC’s standards, policies, and safety protocols.
- Risk Management: Proactively identifying and mitigating risks, and escalating and reporting them timely.
- Effective Communication: Engaging effectively with facilitators, coaches, assessors, and the site team.
- Administrative Tasks: Completing administrative tasks accurately and on time.
- Self and Team Supervision: Aligning self and team supervision with M&RC’s values and leadership initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications and skills:
- Educational Qualifications: Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 equivalent.
- Certificates: Trade Certificate or Team Leader Certificate; Diamond Drill Operator technical skills Certificate or similar.
- Driver’s License: A valid EB Driver’s License is advantageous.
- Competency Certificates: Competent A & B certificates.
- Communication Skills: Good English written and verbal communication skills.
Work Experience
Suitable candidates should have:
- Team Leader Experience: At least 3 years of experience as a Team Leader underground if in possession of a Team Leader Certificate.
- Diamond Drilling Operations Experience: Experience in Diamond Drilling Operations is advantageous if the candidate has a Trade Certificate.
- Knowledge: A sound knowledge of Diamond Drilling Operations, equipment, and methods.
- Risk Assessment: The ability to understand baseline risk assessments and complete issue-based risk assessments independently.
