Youth unemployment is a major concern for South Africa. In Quarter 2 of 2023/24, the unemployment rate for those below the age of 24 years was at 60,7% while those between the ages of 25 and 34 years was at 39,8%.

To address youth unemployment, the City of Tshwane offers a full apprenticeship programme for young people. The City’s apprenticeship programme will equip them with the skills they require in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive and challenging job market. The programme will afford successful learners to work closely with our experienced team members to understand the ins and outs of their chosen industry, gain hands-on experience and grow their skills to become a full-time tradesperson.

How to apply (Application process)

• Successful applicants will receive a monthly stipend of R2 792,44 per month .
• Applicants will be place in Gauteng province.
• Applicants to provide cv with certified copy of the statement of results, qualification and proof of residence certified by the ward councillor concerned or a recent water and lights statement.
