Job Description

The Administrative Officer will supervise and train Selection Support staff, manage the administrative aspects of the participative library material selection process, and maintain the allocation of library material. Additional duties include overseeing the appro section, providing support for the professional review of library material, and performing general office administration duties.

Requirements

  • Educational Qualification: An appropriate 3-year National Diploma/B-Degree (or equivalent higher qualification).
  • Experience: A minimum of 1 year relevant experience.
  • Recommendations:
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel work experience.
    • Experience with a Computerised Library Management System, such as SLIMS.
  • Competencies:
    • Knowledge of planning and organizing, adhering to principles and values.
    • Skills in leading and supervising, numeracy, literacy, and computer literacy (especially MS Office Package: Excel (advanced), Word, Outlook, Microsoft Teams).
    • Proficiency in language skills, delivering results, meeting customer expectations, following instructions and procedures, writing and reporting.
    • Ability to work with people, decide and initiate action, achieve personal work goals and objectives, apply expertise and technology, cope with pressures and setbacks, and relate and network effectively.

Duties

  • Supervision and Training: Oversee and train Selection Support staff.
  • Administrative Management: Manage the administrative aspects of the participative library material selection process.
  • Material Allocation: Maintain the allocation of library material.
  • Section Oversight: Oversee the appro section.
  • Professional Review Support: Provide support for the professional review of library material.
  • Office Administration: Perform general office administration duties.
