Job Description
Role Overview:
The Millwright will be responsible for maintaining mechanical equipment, ensuring machinery operates efficiently to meet production targets. This includes planned and preventative maintenance, electrical and mechanical repairs, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure machinery is available and utilized to its full capacity.
- Conduct planned and preventative maintenance to enhance operational efficiency.
- Perform electrical and mechanical maintenance and repairs on equipment such as boilers, sterilizers, conveyors, and pumps.
- Minimize plant downtime through efficient maintenance practices.
- Rewire electrical machinery to implement effective improvements.
- Overhaul spare or old machinery to ensure availability during breakdowns.
- Comply fully with approved safety regulations, including LOTOTO.
- Read blueprints and schematic drawings for proper machinery assembly.
- Work on hydraulic and pneumatic machines with PLC circuits.
- Align pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, electric motors, and pulleys.
- Maintain 5S and hygiene standards in line with food manufacturing plant requirements.
- Follow company’s Standard Operating Procedures.
- Manage stocks of spares and equipment needed for plant maintenance.
- Maximize plant efficiency through continuous improvement initiatives.
- Supervise and train assistants and apprentices.
Qualifications:
- Matric or equivalent
- N3 Electrical Engineering and/or Mechanical Engineering
- Electro-mechanics Trade Test
