Have you recently applied for my Nafas bursary and worried about if your application was successful You can now Check Nsfas status check for August 2023/2024 or update your application and apply for an appeal any were in South Africa.

How to check nsfas status

  1. Visit the NSFAS Status website at www.nsfas.org.za
  2. Log into your myNSFAS account, or create one if you do not already have one. 
  3. Please enter your User ID
  4. Enter your password.
  5. You can check the status of your NSFAS 2023 application by clicking “Track Funding Progress”

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme is a South African bursary meant to assist those who need financial aid in studying further. The bursary only cover public college Tvet and Universities, private students will not be covered

What does the bursary cover?

Here's of thing that nsfas covers "Amounts indicated of accommodation, living allowance, transport and learning materials need to be aligned with the approved latest DHET guidelines "

As per the actual costs charged by the university (costs for private accommodation must not exceed costs for university residence)
Transport (up to 40 km from institution) R7 500  per annum
Living allowance R15, 000  per annum
Book allowances R5200 per annum
Incidental/personal care allowance R2900 per annum for students in catered residence
Accommodation in an urban area R24,000 per annum
Accommodation in an peri-urban area R18,900 per annum
Accommodation in an rural area R15,750 per annum
Transport (up to 40 km from institution) R7,350  per annum
Transport R7000 per annum
Incidental/personal care allowance R2900 per annum

Who Qualify to receive fund

  • All South African citizens
  • All SASSA grant recipients qualifies for funding
  • Applicants whose combined household income is not more than R350 000 per annum
  • Person with disability: Combined household income must not be more than R600 000 per annum
  • Students who started studying before 2018 whose household income is not more than R122 000 per annum

The bursary only cover South African citizens Who meets the requirements if you don't meet the requirements your application will be declined and if you think they have made a mistake apply for an appeal .
